DSEi 2001, Europe's biggest arms fair, held in London's Docklands, brought together 600 exhibitors from 21 countries. On offer was everything from fighter aircraft to army rations. "Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity" read a placard outside the exhibiton hall. Arms trade protesters picketed the first day's events. |
One protester tried to swim the docks to gain entry to the fair. She was picked up by 2 military police launches 50 yards from shore. The other protesters were dispersed by riot police. |
